TYPO (logo Design)
The logo + visual image system of the Chinese and American Font Design Exhibition
The logo is designed with four letters “T”, “Y”, “P” and “O”. Through creative and clever design arrangement and combination, a vivid Chinese character “字” shape is formed. The Chinese “字” and English “Typo” can be seen from the horizontal and vertical directions respectively, reflecting the theme of the Chinese and Western text exhibition, and also showing the unique charm of Chinese and Western font culture and the harmonious beauty of their mutual blending.
The logo VI visual image system takes the fusion of Chinese and Western cultures as the core, and successfully creates a brand image that is both rich in cultural heritage and full of modern atmosphere through unique visual anguage and creative techniques.
LI XU C hinese characters typography posters
Many Chinese characters typography posters created by myself .It was taken as an example to explore various possiblities of typography poster visual innovation under Chinese characters. See video .How can foreigners understand Chinese characters? How to solve the problem of information transmission through design? I started a lot of creative practices about how to achieve effective transmission of text information through visual design. On the basis of practice, I put forward the concept of “Zi Yi(字意)”, it includes two meanings that are ideographic – “Biao Yi(表意)” and new meaning-“Xin Yi(新意)”.
Zero Corruption
The picture is composed of a large number of viruses, but when the audience watched carefully, they will find that the viruses in the picture gradually turn into money from the center to the surroundings, which triggers people’s thinking about coronavirus during the pandemic and the corruption behind it. Corruption is as contagious as coronavirus. But as the picture changes, the virus and money gradually turn into flowers, expressing the author’s beautiful vision of zero corruption in the future.
Smile Sculpture
This piece uses the Chinese character “说” (shuō, meaning “to speak”) as its foundation. Through a 3D modular design strategy, the character is deconstructed into multiple independent modules, each with its own form and function. These components are rearranged and recombined using principles of topological optimization and spatial composition, while preserving the basic proportions and structure of the original character. The final form resembles a smiling face, transforming a linguistic element into an emotional and humanized visual metaphor.
This transformation bridges the abstract function of language with emotional expression:
• The emotional potential of speech
The character for “to speak” becomes a symbol of joy and warmth, suggesting that language is not just a vehicle for information, but for connection and emotion.
• Reconstructing communication
The breaking down and reassembly of “说” metaphorically reflect the complex and layered nature of communication, which consists not only of words but of tone, intention, and empathy.
“Smile” is a poetic and thought-provoking exploration of how language, form, and feeling intersect. By reconfiguring the character for “to speak” into the shape of a smile, the work proposes a gentle but profound idea: “What if every word we said carried a smile?” In doing so, it encourages not just speaking—but speaking with warmth, care, and connection.
