C-IDEA Conference 2024: in Cheng Du, China
On the morning of October 12, 2024, the “2024 Visual and Design Arts Week” of the Chengdu Academy of Fine Arts, Sichuan Conservatory of Music, grandly opened at the Art Museum of the Linkong Economic Zone Campus of Sichuan Conservatory of Music. This Visual and Design Arts Week was hosted by the Chengdu Academy of Fine Arts, Sichuan Conservatory of Music, and organized by the Art Museum of Sichuan Conservatory of Music and the Department of Visual Communication Design of the Chengdu Academy of Fine Arts, Sichuan Conservatory of Music.
Mou Wenhu, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Sichuan Conservatory of Music, President of the Sculpture Association of Sichuan Province, and Secretary-General of the Art Alliance of Universities in the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle; Zheng Xiaoqing, member of the Standing Committee of the Ziyang Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of the Party Committee of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Ziyang; DAVID BLAIKLOCK, Chairman of the C-IDEA Design Award, internationally renowned illustrator, and Director of Animation and Digital Media at the University of South Australia; RIKKE HANSEN, internationally renowned graphic designer and educator; Xu Li, distinguished professor at the Art Academy of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Poland, guest professor at Nordhessen University of Applied Sciences in Germany, and Secretary-General of the C-IDEA Association (International Arts and Design Colleges/Teachers Alliance); He Yang, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Chengdu Academy of Fine Arts, Sichuan Conservatory of Music; Zhou Jingming, Vice President of the Chengdu Academy of Fine Arts, Sichuan Conservatory of Music and Director of the Department of Visual Communication Design; Zheng Bosen, Vice President of the Chengdu Academy of Fine Arts, Sichuan Conservatory of Music and Director of the Department of Industrial Design; leaders and representatives from the School of Fine Arts of Sichuan University of Science and Engineering, the School of Fine Arts and Calligraphy of Sichuan Normal University, the School of Art of Sichuan Technology and Business University, Chengdu University of the Arts, the Cultural Creativity Professional Committee of China National Folk Arts and Crafts Association, Chengdu Wuzhijichuang Brand Design Co., Ltd., and Chengdu Xianglu Environmental Art Design Co., Ltd.; as well as teachers and students from the Department of Visual Communication Design of the Chengdu Academy of Fine Arts, Sichuan Conservatory of Music, attended the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony of the arts week was hosted by Associate Professor Luo Shibao, Deputy Director of the Department of Visual Communication Design of the Chengdu Academy of Fine Arts, Sichuan Conservatory of Music.
Conference Speech
During this Arts Week, Professor DAVID BLAIKLOCK, Professor RIKKE HANSEN, and Professor Xu Li engaged in in-depth exchanges and discussions with faculty and students of the Visual Communication Design Department on trending topics in the field of vision and design. During the seminars and discussions, the guests shared the teaching frameworks of overseas design schools and also presented cutting-edge design concepts through the design works of faculty and students. They encouraged faculty and students to actively explore the relationship between artificial intelligence and design in today’s digital age, strengthen the awareness of “service design,” and use design to create more value for society.
Exhibition
The arts week kicked off with the hosting of the “Colorado International Invitation Poster Exhibition -CIIPE Past Masters posters” and the “European Theatre Poster Design Exhibition.”
The European Theatre Poster Design Exhibition has invited renowned theatre poster artists from countries such as France, Germany, Serbia, Poland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Belgium, Bulgaria, and the Czech Republic to showcase a total of 77 outstanding works of European opera posters. Additionally, the exhibition has also invited Prof. Lisa Winston Stanley to showcase her 30 posters representing theatre culture as a sub project of the exhibition.
As one of the world’s top five authoritative poster exhibitions, the Colorado International Poster Biennial has become a dazzling stage for designers around the world to showcase their talents and creativity with its long history, outstanding achievements, and extensive international influence. These works not only represent the highest level of international poster design today, but also represent designers’ profound insights and unique expressions in various fields such as art, culture, and society.
This exhibition will be the first to be exhibited in China as a sub project of the C-IDEA Education Annual Conference Chengdu Station. The organizing committee has carefully selected outstanding works from 35 internationally renowned designers from around the world. These works not only represent the highest level of international poster design today, but also represent designers’ profound insights and unique expressions in various fields such as art, culture, and society. Every poster is a vivid picture, which cleverly blends elements such as color, graphics, and text to convey designers’ understanding and insights into the world, inspiring audience thinking and resonance.
